Considerations on the Relevance of Humanistic Education in UAA

Humanism, as a philosophical approach to education, is the hallmark of the education that Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes (UAA) aims. It started with this perspective and its substantive activities (teaching, researching, linking, and management) have been oriented under it, among which education stands out as a primary function for the development of its educational processes. Within the context of UAA’s 50th anniversary, the reflections of two educational stakeholders who have contributed to its comprehension and implementation are presented. Enrique Luján Salazar, PhD, who is a teacher in this highest house of studies, a writer and editor; andPaulina Avalos Valladares, who is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Institutional Humanistic Formation Program. Through the conceptions exposed in these interviews, the sense of the humanistic formation of the education that is imparted in the UAA is deepen, these reflections revolve around some approaches about what is Humanism, why the UAA is humanistic, what are the main features and characteristics of the humanistic education? what are the main features and characteristics of humanistic education? and, in this sense, what is humanistic education? what are the ideals that are mainly promoted? what lines of knowledge are promoted from this approach? why is it important its promotion? how can humanistic education be self-managed and promoted through teaching practice?
