Introduction: Diabetic foot (DF) is a critical complication of diabetes mellitus and the leading cause of non-traumatic amputations, affecting 15-25% of patients. Objective: To compare the frequency of amputation according to the Texas, Wagner, and San Elian scales in hospitalized patients. Materials and methods: A prospective, descriptive study was conducted on 78 patients at General Hospital No. 3 in Aguascalientes (December 2024 - August 2025), evaluating surgical outcomes in relation to the severity of each scale. Results: 62.8% of the sample required amputation (46.1% minor, 16.6% major). The Wagner and San Elian scales showed a distribution of amputations proportional to the increase in severity, especially in advanced stages. Conclusions: The Wagner and San Elian scales are feasible clinical tools for identifying high-risk groups for amputation upon hospital admission.
