Se Lumen Proferre: The Humanistic Educational Approach in the UAA

Some elements and characteristics of the philosophical humanistic educational approach adopted by the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes since its birth, 50 years ago, with the transformation of the Instituto Autónomo de Ciencias y Tecnología on June 19, 1973, are presented. Some of the main guiding documents in which the humanistic approach of the university is made explicit are identified. The general antecedents about humanistic education as the main strategy for the promotion of this educative approach among the university community are shared: of students through the Institutional Program of Humanistic Education, of teachers with the Institutional and Teachers Update Program, and of the administrative personal. And some day-to-day actions that also contribute are made visible. Teachers’ participation in courses of the area of humanistic education since the approval of the Institutional Teacher Training and Updating Program in 2013 is summarized.
