Peer Tutoring and Development of Transversal Competences

A case study conducted by the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes to know more information about the operation of the Peer Tutoring Program is presented. In this article, the corresponding results of one of the objectives of the study are shown: To know the competences that, in opinion of the peer tutors and tutees, are developed thanks to their participation in this process. It is corroborated that peer tutoring, besides improving the tutored students’ academic performance in statistic subjects, enhances the development of transversal competencies of tutors as well of tutees.
