Abstract

Women occupied a privileged place in the development of pre-Hispanic technology as those in charge of food preparation. This fact eventually led them to invent technology for gathering, storing and cooking food, in addition to designing specialized techniques to make use of corn, such as nixtamalization and the utensils related to the process. The objective of this article is to present some possible contributions of pre-Hispanic women in this field.
