Charles Darwin is a primordial character in the history and development of biology. He made his capital contributions while suffering from a series of disorders with diverse clinical manifestations for which several hypotheses have been proposed. So far, the nature of the disease that incapacitated him during the second half of his life is not precisely known. However, the available evidence points to a combination of psychological alterations and organic disorders, among which Chagas disease stands out.
