Competitiveness of trade policy in the international economy through principal component analysis

This paper analyzes the competitiveness of trade policy for thirty-four (34) economies whose currencies are the most traded internationally. It worked through a competitiveness index linked to trade policy using the methodology of Principal Component Analysis, which allows a multidimensional and multivariate analysis. The results obtained suggest that China shows the highest competitiveness in trade policy followed by the Euro Zone, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Chile, Brazil, Spain and Argentina, in that order.
