Adapting the Young Adult Alcohol Problem Screening Test (YAAPST) with university students in Mexico

This paper reports the results related to adaptation of the Young Adult Alcohol Problem Screening Test (YAAPST) Colombian version, which assesses the negative consequences of alcohol consumption. The adaptation was performed with 344 students at a public university in the interior part of Mexico, considering different sources of validity: content validity, concurrent validity and analysis of the internal structure of the test. The test reliability was obtained by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The results showed a multidimensional scale with appropriate psychometric properties. A valid test for use in research about the negative consecuences
associated with consumption was dotained, as well as the planning and evaluating interventions aimed at preventing alcohol abuse among college students.
