Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic degenerative disease of absolute or relative lack of insulin. Ulcers in the lower extremities are common complications of diabetes, as shown in 15% of cases. This study characterized clinic - epidemiologically to patients with diabetic foot, in the municipality of San Carlos, Cojedes state, Venezuela. The research was descriptive, with two stages a retrospective and one prospective. Were 113 patients with diabetic foot, 63.7% men and 36.3% women. Five had DM I. Stage II of Wagner was the most frequent in DM II and grade I in patients with DM I. Staphilococcus aureus isolated pathogens and all are sensitive to ciprofloxacin and vancomycin.
