Abstract

Moringa oleifera is highly valued worldwide due to its properties. One of the profitable parts of the tree are the seeds. In the present work the oil extraction was developed using a Soxhlet extractor from Moringa oleifera Lam. Plain variety seeds of Cuban origin. The percentage of extraction was established as response variable in the experimental design. The factors temperature extraction and solute-solvent ratio had a significant influence in the response factor, with probability values lower than 0.05. A mathematical model was obtained which explained the 94.03% of the variability in the response factor. The best condition for oil extraction was reached operating at a relation solute-solvent 1:6 and an extraction temperature of 65 °C.
