Abstract

In this article I write about the integration of women into higher education in Aguascalientes; specifically of those who were admitted to pursue traditionally considered masculine majors. I performed an analysis of the interviews conducted with the methodology of oral history. I consider that conducting interviews is a way to rescue and create new sources for historical analysis especially in women’s history. The goal is to look into the retrieved evidence and find major choice factors and gender relations with male peers and teachers of three women who majored in agronomy, architecture and civil engineering in the first generation of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes. I conclude by mentioning that it is important to recover different experiences of women in masculine-driven worlds in order to understand the ruptures and continuities in gender relations and transformations of traditional stereotypes of feminine identity.
