During the Porfiriato, an artistic "renaissance" took place, with numerous artists arriving to showcase their work. Newspaper companies took on the role of sponsoring these projects, with El Diario being a particularly important one. It strongly promoted the fine arts through illustrations by Carlo de Fornaro and interviews and articles by José P. Micolo. Despite its short run (1906-1908), it produced a wealth of work that deserves to be explored.
