State data (Instituto de Educación de Aguascalientes, 2016) indicates that in the 2010-2011 school year, 46,505 students were enrolled at this level, while in the 2015-2016 school year, the number rose to 60,451 (29,879 males and 30,572 females). It is noteworthy that in the municipality of Aguascalientes alone, 44,078 students are attending this level, indicating a significant increase in enrollment. These students are enrolled in 310 schools and are taught by a faculty of 3,350 teachers.
