The pandemic caused by COVID-19 brought us big challenges. We suffered the loss of beloved ones, it separated us from our friends, and we had big educational challenges. However, the pandemic also encouraged us to give the best of ourselves. Thus, I could see in my students and in myself a meaningful improvement in terms of self-regulation, metacognition, self-evaluation capacity, critical and reflexive thinking development, and sense of self-efficacy. Likewise, I witnessed a growth that was more than important in regard to human values, which I saw reflected in discussions where respect, responsibility, and consideration were consistent. Use the present article to share with the academic community the positive side of lockdown and distance education that COVID-19 demanded of us.
