The combination of statistical data and experiences of distance education during the pandemic allows this article to integrate the perspective of the teaching and student community of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, (UAA), in the face of this unprecedented event in teaching and learning processes. Through a research project initiated prior to the lockdown, important data is presented to structure a diagnosis of the institutional conditions of online education, supported by surveys conducted to the university community during the first semester of this health emergency. The results present the advantages and areas of opportunity regarding teachers' digital competencies, student satisfaction with virtual classes, and the technological resources available to continue UAA's educational programs despite the circumstances of the time.
