Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of the expansion of the holy death cult in Chetumal, a city located in the Mexico-Belize border. It presents the state of the art, and studies three religious places, whose particular histories, religious practices and rituals are related to the experiences of their religious leaders. The paper aims at the presentation of the local scene and the construction of different traditions of this popular cult.
