Abstract

In this paper I analyze the way in which a group of Catholic women led by Concepción Aguayo in Aguascalientes (Mexico) became a team of improvised nurses during the Mexican Revolution. I observe how in the long term their improvised practice turned into a professional activity, allowing these women a modern participation –recognized and paid- in the local society.
