Analysis of sexual education policies and sexuality in Mexico

Abstract

This paper seeks to analyze, during the first ten years of this century, some examples of sexual education policies in formal education at elementary, secondary and high school levels in Mexico. This work is divided into four main sections: 1) General theoretical elements. In this section, the concepts of educational policy, sexuality and sex education are defined. 2) Context and history. Here are some historical events that have impacted the development of sex education policies. 3) Description of the problem and sexual education policies and sexuality. This section is divided into two parts: Diagnosis of the situation and description of sex education policies and sexuality. 4) Examples of sexuality education policies and conclusions. In this section, the cases described are analyzed by means of some theoretical framework and the conclusions and recommendations derived from such analysis are shown.
