Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • One article per author –whether written individually or in collaboration with others– will be accepted for each issue.
  • In terms of its linguistic style, the text is clear and coherent, and is logically structured with a sufficient level of detail to ensure it can be understood.
  • The article is original and unpublished, and is not being submitted to any other publication at the same time.
  • The text is aimed at teachers in higher education or upper secondary education.
  • It is written in the third person.
  • In line with the overall objective of the journal Docere, the article highlights current, prevailing and contemporary trends in higher education and upper secondary education.
  • The section of the journal for which the article was written is specified, and there is a clear correspondence between the content of the article and that section.
  • Use inclusive language. For example, ‘student’ instead of ‘male student’ or ‘female student’, or ‘teacher’ instead of ‘female teacher’ or ‘male teacher’.
  • The article is structured as follows: the name of the journal’s ‘Section’ for which it is written, ‘Title’, ‘Abstract’, ‘Keywords’, ‘Main Text’, ‘Conclusions’ and ‘References’; it should be between four and six pages in length, in Times New Roman font, single-spaced, with standard margins.
  • It maintains a balanced distribution across the length of the introduction, main body and conclusion sections.
  • The citations, references and illustrations used are closely linked to the central theme of the text; they are recent (no more than five years old) and formatted in accordance with APA 7th edition (American Psychological Association).
  • Please submit two copies of the article, in Word format – one with author details and one without – via this platform or by email to: revistadocere@edu.uaa.mx.
  • It is written in Spanish, English or French.
  • It is ethical, objective and impartial.
  • Where applicable, the author must provide a detailed account of the use of AI in their manuscript and demonstrate that it did not replace their intellectual responsibility or academic rigour in its preparation.

Author Guidelines

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE DOCERE JOURNAL

To enrich the knowledge of teachers at the upper secondary and higher education at the state, region, and country levels by publishing articles on topics oriented towards the Institutional program for Teacher Training and Professional Development (PIFOD): Institutional Identity, curriculum design, teaching methodologies, instructional resorces and ICT's applied to education, educational assessment, humanities education, foreign languages, and tutoring.

MAIN DISTINCTIONS OF THE JOURNAL

Docere has been asigned an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) in both print and electronic versions: ISSN 2007, as well as the reservation numbers for exclusive use of the title: 04-2013-022112005700-102 y 04-2018-070312441800-203, issued by the Instituto Nacional del Derecho de Autor (INDAUTOR). Moreover, it forms part of the Academic Journal Network of the UAA (RedRUAA) and the Online Directory of the Regional Sistem of Information for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal (LATINDEX). The incorporation to the catalog is in process.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Docere is a non-profit academic publication that offers open access to its content: it is distributed free of charge, with no costs for authors, readers, or reviewers

Currently it is published under the Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share Alike, 4.0 International license https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0,  according to which the authors agree to assign their copyright under this shared license, which allows anyone to share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format under the following terms:

  • Credit the author of the text
  • Do not use the material for commercial purposes.
  • Do not transform or modify the material

The authors grant this journal the right of first publication, but retain their copyright, so that they may enter into other independent and additional contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the version of the article published in this journal (e.g., including it in an institutional repository or publishing it in a book), provided that they clearly indicate that the work was first published in this journal.

ARTICLE RECEIPT PROCESS

Two calls for article reception are open yearly: From May to July and from October to January. During these periods, the specific topics that address the issue are given.

Two calls for papers are open twice a year: May to July and October to January, where the specific thems for each issue are established. The participant articles must have the following principles: 

  • Guidelines for the submission of articles
  • Identification information
  • Participant article submission
  • Double-blind review process

Article submission guidelines

Only one article per author(s) will be accepted. The author must ensure of the aforementioned checklist of requirements as well as the rest of content and format elements described in the current call for papers.

Identification Information

A biographical sketch of the author(s) who present the article. In the blind copy of the article per author, a brief sketch of roughly 100 words will be included, indicating: name(s), last name(s), city and country, academic degree(s), institution(s) from which the author graduated, institution(s) of adscription, center or faculty and department, work experience, subjects taught, research interests, publications, among others.

Participant's submission

Send to the e-mail revistadocere@edu.uaa.mx two copies of the article, one including the author(s) identification left-aligned: name(s) and last name(s) in italics, and below the title of the article. If there is more than one author, write the full name next to the main author's name separate by a comma. The other copy must be blind, which means that no author or authors' identification is mentioned. This will be the copy that will be reviewed.

Peer Review and Plagiarism Detection System

To ensure the quality of the articles’ content, the Docere journal will implement a peer-review system consisting of double-blind review, preserving the anonymity of authors and reviewers. To this end, the Department of Academic Training and Continuing Education (DEFAA) will carry out the following activities:

1. Conduct an initial review of the articles to ensure they comply with the requirements of this call for papers.

2. Revise the submitted text for similarities with other published works using iThenticate, a specialized tool for plagiarism detection.

3. Propose two reviewers for the evaluation of the articles that received hig scores in the points 1 and 2.

4. Communicate the results of the review to the authors in terms of:

  • Favorable. No changes
  • Favorable. Taking into account the observations.
  • Not favorable. The article requires major changes.

In the event of discrepancy between favorable and not favorable or any unexpected situation in this call for papers, the DEFAA, as the responsible for the publishing of the Docere journal, will determine the final veredict, which will be final and binding.

Reviewers section

It is carried out by invitation to professors who, due to their professional profile, are able to evaluate the assigned text, based on a directory that is enriched with each call for applications.

Educational guidelines

The articles present a series of practical guidelines on the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of educational processes, set out in a clear and detailed manner and drawing on in-depth knowledge of the central theme addressed in each article, so that others may apply these guidelines to their own teaching experiences. A maximum of four to five pages.

 

Teachers and their environment

This section features articles that highlight successful experiences arising from teaching practice in educational settings; these may relate to a specific case or, more broadly, to the overall experience of teachers. Building on this, the articles explore concepts relating to educational processes, new methodologies and innovative proposals in the field of education, amongst other topics, in order to address key questions concerning teaching practice.

Topic of interest

The journal includes articles on educational processes in international, national, regional or local contexts, with a view to highlighting the challenges and opportunities involved in adapting education to the needs and complexities of the contemporary world.

Educational model and teachers

These are texts linked to the principles of the educational or curricular project or model of the institution to which the author belongs; they are intended to encourage reflection, analysis and understanding of that institution’s educational philosophy, which underpins the development of all its services and programmes, such as teaching and learning processes, teacher training, educational assessment and curriculum development, amongst others.
