Socio-Motor Sports and Comprehensive Formation in High School Students of the UAA

The guiding principles of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes (UAA) promote the development of academic and scientific activities as well as sports, artistic, and cultural activities. In this sense, "la UAA concibe la educación como un proceso intencional y sistemático, cuya finalidad es la formación integral de la persona, esto es, el Desarrollo pleno de todas sus facultades” (UAA, 2007: 5) ["The UAA conceives education as an intentional and systematic process, whose purpose is the integral formation of the person, that is, the full development of all his faculties”]. To achieve this purpose, the university promotes a program of sports activities, mainly of a socio-motor type, which provides benefits in the integral development of the students’ personality who belong to the Upper Secondary Education Center. In addition to the acquisition of healthy habits, the positive use of spare time, physical invigoration, coexistence and life in society, among other values of student sports.
