The university professor has a disciplinary and pedagogical knowledge immersed in their teaching practice, which is highlighted within the demands of the discipline, the educational context, and curriculum. The Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) is a proposal that allows to analyze the teachers’ action, particularly in the relationship between the knowledge of the mathematical content and the knowledge of students, as well as the specific didactics of the discipline and the curricular demands. The present article discusses this model from the high school’s perspective, where professors teaching mathematics face major challenges in their pedagogical work.
