In this text, I critically examine the book Tengo el cuerpo muy mal / pero una gran vida social (Bazán & Hernández, 2025), which brings together studies on the intersections between popular music, the body, and the market in Latin America. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the volume proposes understanding corporeality as a surface of symbolic and economic inscription, exploring cases ranging from 1980s pop and television culture to digital platforms and Latin American music-humor. In this review, I highlight the book's relevance to current cultural and musicological studies, while also pointing to the need to delve deeper into methodologies for analyzing the body from decolonial and affective perspectives. Overall, the text celebrates a significant contribution to Latin American discussions on representation, performativity, and musical production.
