About the Journal

Investigación y Práctica en Psicología del Desarrollo Segunda Época (e-ISSN: 2448-4741) was an annual periodical publication led first by teachers and later by psychology students; edited by the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes through the Center for Social Sciences and Humanities and the Department of Psychology.

It featured articles of interest to psychology from different perspectives and areas, from any institutional or geographical origin, with authors from Spain and Latin America. During its two periods, it was published intermittently from 2015 to 2023, and its archive contains a total of six issues from its first period and one incomplete issue from the second, all available on its website.

The opinions expressed are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the position of the institution or those responsible for the journal.

Any partial or total reproduction of the contents or images of the publication, including electronic storage, is authorized, provided that it is for strictly academic and non-profit purposes, citing the source without altering the content and giving authorial credit.

Focus and scope

The content of the journal was aimed at students, from undergraduate to postgraduate level, and researchers. Its purpose was to contribute to the dissemination and discussion of knowledge in the field of psychology, regardless of institutional or geographical origin.

During its period of activity, the magazine maintained the following guidelines:

Submission of papers

If you have any questions about the submission process, please send an email to the journal and review the section on submissions, which outlines the guidelines for authors.

Preparation of bibliographic references

IPPD worked with the APA 7th edition citation system, therefore all submissions must comply with this requirement:

  • Printed book with author

Last name, N. (year) Book title. Publisher.

  • Online books:

Last name N. (year) Book title. Publisher. DOI* and URL.

  • Book chapters

Last name N. (year, chapter title or entry). Editor A. Editor B, Editor C. Editor (Eds). Book title (pp.xxx-xxx). Publisher. URL or DOI*.

*Nota:

Include the DOI in the reference after the author's name. Do not include the publisher's location or database information in the reference. If the book does not have a DOI and comes from an academic research database, end the book reference after the author's name. The reference in this case is the same as for print.

  • Multimedia

Last name N. (year, month, day). Name of video [video]. URL

Nota:

Use the name of the account that uploaded the video as the author. Clarify whether it is an original video from the account or a secondary source if you do not have access to the YouTube channel, official website, or other social media accounts of the original author.

Original articles

Reprints of past publications or works that have already been submitted to other journals will not be accepted. IPPD consider originality to be an indisputable requirement.

Peer review process

All submissions to this journal underwent a rigorous peer review process, either single-blind or double-blind. Each submission was subject to two evaluation filters before being accepted:

  1. SIMPLE BLIND REVIEW: When the text arrived at the journal's email address (rippduaaestudiantil@gmail.com), a quick check was carried out to ensure compliance with the editorial guidelines established in the guidelines for authors, and to verify that the contribution was entirely original using anti-plagiarism systems such as iThenticate. It was then evaluated by all members of the Editorial Committee, who filled out a review form with comments and specifications about the submission, giving a verdict of approval or rejection. The votes were counted at the end of the specified review period, and the result could be challenged by one or more committee members within 24 hours of publication for any compelling reason not taken into account by the others (plagiarism, major quality flaws, insufficient contribution to the objectives, etc.), in which case the verdict remained pending until the members had discussed it. If there was no challenge, the work was sent to the next phase of review, and this information was communicated to the author by email.
  2. DOUBLE-BLIND REVIEW: After the above, the collaboration was reviewed blindly by three people simultaneously: a professor-researcher linked to the subject of the submission, a style editor, and a specific member of the editorial committee. These reviews of the manuscript were sent to the journal's email address after a certain time limit set by the editor, who was responsible for verifying the quality of each one before sending them to the author. In the case of literary creations and reviews, they were only evaluated by two members of the editorial committee and a style editor. Contributions could no longer be rejected at this stage; they only received suggestions for necessary corrections.

The three revisions were sent to the participant, who had approximately two weeks to take into account the comments made and finish their final version, which would be received for the edition of the issue in question, verifying its originality once again with the anti-plagiarism tool (iThenticate) before its digital publication on this page. Finally, it had to be attached as a reply to the email, to which a preview of the already published article was also sent for approval. If it was not delivered in a timely manner, it was rejected for publication.

Digital preservation and archiving systems

Actions at the institutional level:

The content hosted on the Open Journal System (OJS) platform of the journal Investigación y Práctica en Psicología del Desarrollo is digitally preserved on the designated server, in accordance with the processes established by the Editorial Department of the General Directorate of Dissemination and Outreach and the Networks and Telecommunications Department of the General Directorate of Planning and Development of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (UAA). In general, this process consists of the following:

- Editorial Department, General Directorate for Dissemination and Outreach:

  1. Frequent maintenance of the site and technical administration of the institutional OJS.
  2. Version updates.
  3. Automatic backup every 12 hours, with the possibility of historical access to previous backups; involving:
    1. OJS configuration files.
    2. The database.
    3. Backup log.
    4. Automated monitoring of backups, tracking storage space.

- Networks and Telecommunications Department, General Directorate of Planning and Development:

  1. Monthly backup of OJS, with implications similar to the constant backups of the Editorial Department, involving:
    1. Backup log.
    2. Automated monitoring of backups, tracking storage space.

Complementary strategies:

Research and Practice in Developmental Psychology, being published in the Open Journal System (OJS) software from the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), supports its publications in the archiving systems with which the platform is compatible, such as:

  1. Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (CLOCKSS): A system that guarantees the secure and permanent digital preservation of publications based on technology developed by Stanford University. It allows participating libraries to archive digital journals and their content by validating caches and restoring them in case of loss or corruption.
  2. Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS): This is an open source tool created by Stanford University Library that makes it easier for libraries to preserve electronic journals by periodically collecting newly published content. The files are continuously verified with copies stored at other institutions, allowing any damaged or lost information to be restored. (See the Publishing Manifesto: https://revistas.uaa.mx/index.php/ippd/gateway/lockss).

Likewise, through the services of Crossref, Investigación y Práctica en Psicología del Desarrollo supports the metadata of its articles by assigning a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each one, which enables their persistent identification and facilitates their consultation.
