Abstract

Memory is something we hear about at every moment, even though the time in which we are living seems only to look to the future. The past returns to think of the times that were considered better than the present, as well as to rediscover, through the tracing of the roots, the identity that unites a certain society and that gives authenticity to its culture. The text intends, therefore, to provide a description of the sociocultural role that collective memory plays for any human group, in order to understand the characteristics of this phenomenon with its causes, manifestations and functions, as well as the importance of history and literature.
