Even though the distance education is not new, the contingency caused by the COVID-19 made teachers and students from the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes leave the classrooms and resort to an online education mode to continue with the courses. But how has this experience been for the high school graduates and university students? For this question a survey was formulated in order to know the experience of the students; The results show that despite the transition to an online experience has been good and that it has allowed to develop new skills and attitudes such as displaying their self-learning capacity, students still prefer the in-person mode, where the interaction with peers and with the professors allows them to share opinions so they can modify or maintain their own. This experience has to lead to present hybrid courses, where both teachers and students give their best.
