Abstract

This work maintains that the concept of symbol in the philosophy of Gadamer allows to construct an ontological interpretation of the artistic work and, as an aesthetic category, allows the interpreter to have a point of support to give a unitary sense to this event. However, what we can say about art, is not subject to a unilateral or closed reading; as a historical phenomenon of human life and by its very nature, art requires a broad and plural interpretation that enables an interpretation that gives a unity of meaning and offers the possibility of generating an encounter in which subject and object are correlative and belong to the same vital horizon.
