Abstract

This paper shows the results of a study conducted in Aguascalientes, Mexico, about television appropriation processes that middle-school students develop through their inclusion as audiences of soap operas, telenovelas. The author reflects on the different elements that adolescents take from this genre, how they link them with other media consumptions (series, movies and cartoons) as well as the social and cultural implications they have on second order viewership.
