Abstract

In the last decade there has been a rapid expansion of gender perspective. In this context academics have become increasingly involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policies with a gender perspective, which has meant the establishment (in academia and in government space) of an emerging field of applied knowledge. This paper proposes a methodology for incorporating feminist epistemology to the design of municipal public policies with a gender perspective. With that goal, the process of training government officials and the design and development of gender-sensitive policies for the municipality of El Llano, located in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico are systematized. This exercise allows not only a set of methodological reflections but also leads us to question from where and for what we build the knowledge to be used in public policy design.
