Abstract

A gender-based violence case among university students of Aguascalientes, Mexico, is presented in this article. Starting from the concept of symbolic violence (Bourdieu) and the assumption of roles, such as the provider and the housewife roles, which are initially denied by themselves. However, they reproduce such roles with modernity nuances; but finally,it is just a repetition of the same traditional roles. This process is rescued from the voices of the young people who participated in the focal groups.
