Abstract

This article makes an assessment of the testimonies as a source for the study of borders and also makes a synthesis about the antecedents of the border region between Mexico and Guatemala. Analyze how the border was perceived in the testimonies of the militants of the Guatemalan armed movements. The conclusions highlight the advantages and limitations that testimony provides in studies of this nature. This type of analysis highlights epistemological issues with practical difficulties of investigation and with autobiographical reflections, confessions and even hidden obsessions in the making of social knowledge.
