Abstract

In addition to highlighting the relevance and socioeconomic impact that the opening of Avenida de La Convención (today Francisco I. Madero Avenue) had in 1914, this article questions the idea that modernity was born with the revolution, that is, , emphasis is placed on continuity rather than on breaking. The projects of several governors of the Porfirista period to turn Aguascalientes into a modern city were partially rescued by Alberto Fuentes Dávila, governor and military constitutionalist commander in the state. Based on the consultation of unexplored documentary sources and pertinent biblio-hemerography, an event as important as ignored in the urban history of the capital is addressed.
