Abstract

In this article the confrontation between national history and regional
history in our country is analysed. Some characteristics and
ínterrelatíons of both ways of doing hystory-graphy are pointed out as
well as the progressíve consolídation of the local historie studies from
the Mexican Revolution.
However, it is during the nineties when the regional history-graphy is
consolidated and the two ways of doing history is understood as
complementary perspectives not as opposing to each others. At the
end a spurious. superficial. homogeneous, cynic, and generalising history-graphy is rejected, and a need to create in Mexico a plural, critical well sustained, collecive, and independent from polítical power is postulated.
