Abstract

From a characterisation of the manierist period of the occidental history (between 1520 and 1620); Arnold Hauser defined it as the crisis of the European conscience that arose after and as a consequence of the Renascence, the figure of Teresa of Jesus is chosen in order to analyse how the difficult existential situation for the men and women of Europe of that time was lived and saved by her.
