Abstract

Beginning with the available bibliographical references, and adding new or previously unknown sources, this essay proposes a new theory about the founding of Aguascalientes. The event is contextualized in the Chichimeca War, which explains it and gives it a fundamental logic, but also begins to deal with the topic of the extermination of the aboriginal population and its slow substitution by the Spanish population and their indigenous allies who colonized the region.
