Abstract

This essay analizes the political problems that the formation of the constitutional order between 1836 and 1842 went through in relation with the peculiar composition of Mexican citizenship. Another aspect underlined in this work is the formulation of the first project of centralization (1836) and the obstacles in its consolidation. Finally, because of its relevance and because it permits in register key problems of federal and liberal Mexican order in the middle of XIX century, the penetrating reflexion of the jurist Mariano Otero on the constitutional change of 1842 is described.
