Abstract

A series of recommendations are presented to consider when reviewing academic texts. The recommendations are derived from the introduction to Psy-Complex in Question: Critical Review in Psychology, Psychoanalysis and Social Theory, by Ian Parker (2017). It is proposed to understand the review as an evaluation exercise by peers in an open mode, focused on the discussion of the central ideas proposed by the reviewed text. The need to make explicit the premises from which the reviewed text is discussed is defended, and the review is invited in the form of a short essay.
