Abstract

The actual essay offers a synthesis of the given interpretations to explain the smiling faces, unique creations from the groups that lived in the north of state of Veracruz in the late classic period. The author also essays an alternative interpretation, through the analysis of the rituals in which appears the little dwarfs of the ecstasy, the smiling faces linked to the old wisdom, trying to understand in its deepest sense the originality and authenticity of this artistic phenomenon.
