Abstract

This article arguments the importance of the irrigation and the limited nature of the progresses that look place in the region during the Nineteenth century. The landholders and the governments were incapable of doing truly improvements, which explains somehow the backwardness of the agriculture. In spite of the its conceded importance, the project of building a big dam which would irrigate the Aguascalientes valley, it never could be done.
