Abstract

The article addresses the history of the Hospital of San Juan de Dios, a hospital institution in the city of Aguascalientes. The first section of the text offers a historical-thematic contextualization, addressing the founding of hospital institutions in Mexico, as a relevant part of the colony. The second part presents the territorial and social context in which the first hospital institutions of the population were founded. The third part focuses on the development of the young town of Aguascalientes. Finally, sections four and five deal with the Hospital of San Juan de Dios, from its foundation to its decline and disappearance.
