Abstract

The study presents some of the criteria supported by Alonso de la Veracruz regarding the essence of Law, particularly those related to the delivery of justice. The author focuses his analysis on the De decimis treaty, emphasizing the argument against the supposed obligation of Indians to pay tithes and contrasting with the present what would be an alternative practice of law.
