Abstract

The disappearance of El Imparcial created a vacuum filled by various information organs of short duration whose objective was to defend the positions of the various warring factions. Once the “guerra de papel” (1913-1915) concluded, began a period of hegemony of the carrancista press. Through the stories of newspapers like El Demócrata, El Pueblo, El Universal and Excélsior, this article explained the promotion, consolidation and the eve of the crisis of Carranza’s presidency. The “death” of El Pueblo in May, 1919 marked a turning point in the revolutionary journalism before the election campaign of 1920. The development and consolidation of this newspapers haven’t been sufficiently analyzed by historians, this text propose an explanation for these processes.
