Tutoring in Choosing a Major

Abstract

One of the main problems faced by universities is student dropout during the first semesters of the major due to the lack of appropriate career counselling before choosing a major. According to the published data from two higher education institutions on the lack of vocational discernment of students as one of the main causes of dropout, the analysis of tutorial action and the tutor’s functions in upper secondary education is proposed as a strategy to guide students in favor of an appropriate choice of major.
