Abstract

Studies have shown that obesity and overweight chronically inflame the brain, a fact that can cause neural death, white matter degeneration, and subsequently influence poor cognitive performance. Obesity is a risk factor for cognitive decline or even some types of dementia during the aging process. Therefore, it is relevant to raise awareness about the physical and mental risks of having a lifestyle that promotes obesity and overweight.
