This article discusses the neglect of the role of women during the Independence of Mexico. For this purpose, a part of the historiography written on the subject is analyzed, where there are information gaps that in recent years have been filled with the historiographical review of women historians, where female participation is revalued and addressed from multiple and diverse realities. Based on these narratives, this article points out the role assigned to women at that time and mentions the valuable contributions of certain women who transgressed this scheme to join the insurgent struggle.
