Jazz, from its origins, had an important relationship with Mexico, since at
the same time that Mexican music and culture influenced the gestation of said genre; their presence in the country in the first decades of the last century was essential for the history of the country's musical development, as well as in the formation of popular taste. However, due to its place of origin and the ideology of post-revolutionary cultural nationalism, its presence in Mexico was seen by the State as an external and pernicious cultural element for the development of the Mexican cultural identity that it sought to build.
