Through the analysis of the article "The scientific discourse in the work of Edgar Allan Poe" by Joan Ferrús, which discusses the belonging of some of Poe´s works to the genre of science fiction, even before the rise of the genre that took place until the 20th century, I seek to participate in the debate about how science and technology are perceived in society and how this perception has changed, through the contrast between the historical context of the American author and the content of his works, with the context and current concerns of society.
