It is difficult to define what history is, since its object of study is subjective: it speaks of a past that is accessed through collective memory, where an interpretation of the historical fact is made, but this is inaccurate. This article approaches history from four meanings: history as facts, as a memory generated by a society, as a kind of religion, and from the academy, at this point, the role of the historian becomes important, is he a scientist or an artist?, and the relativity that exists in this discipline is addressed.
