Abstract

This article addresses some of the diseases that often accompany the philosophical thought in Latin America, and attempts to identify an appropriate way to deal with them. In particular three vices, which form a «vicious triangle», are discussed, namely the «subaltern fervor», the «craving for novelty» and the «nationalist enthusiasm». To avoid falling into such vices one must abide by certain rules that prevent the arrogant use of reason, and promote an argumentation internal and external, which will eventually lead investigation to a field of serious debate, regardless of language.
