Avempace, The Regime of the Solitary, individual, community, imperfect society.Abstract
The author argues that Avempace, special expert on the Arab eastern philosophers, particularly that of al-Farabi, in his book entitled The Regime of the Solitary (Tadbīr al-mutawahhid) argues that every city and society is imperfect and therefore the only possible happiness will be that of the man’s isolated, either alone or in a community. It concludes that the approach of Avempace confronts us with an anthropological reality: the imperfection of the human condition; at the same time that reminds us of a recurring problem in modern political philosophy: the split between the individual and the community.Downloads
