Abstract

The aim of this paper is to reconsider the rhythm/harmony binomial as the second natural cause of imitation for Aristotle, while emphasizing the role of rhythm in the mimetic structure. This reconsideration seeks to demonstrate that rhythm is not only natural but necessary for knowledge, imitation, structure giving, and poetic emotion.
